Once I had you,
But now you’re gone.
Like the perfect night,
That flees from the coming dawn.

I had given you everything,
I thought that you wanted.
Still for another,
You constantly hunted.

And as time went by,
I continued to age.
While you searched for,
A prettier bird for your cage.

As soon as you found her,
You no longer needed me.
Acting like you were doing me a favor,
Calling it “Setting me free.”

But it’s your twisted form of love,
I don’t know how to live without.
Leaving me now,
In a world full of doubt.

Because being with you,
Meant putting my dreams on a shelf.
And long before I lost you,
I lost myself.
